PEACE ROSE HELPS BREAST CANCER RESEARCH

SONOMA, CA (October 22, 2002) – In honor of her grandmother, SacredHome founder Lorraine Aho is donating 5% of all proceeds from the sale of the "Peace" Rose print to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

Anna Louise Belapolsky Houde emigrated as a young girl from Kiev, Ukraine to Brooklyn, NY at the turn of the last century to escape religious persecution of her Jewish family. She attended business school and eventually moved to Los Angeles to be close to cousins in the blossoming entertainment field; Paul Muni, Lee Wallace and the Thomashevsky family. She was diagnosed with breast cancer about 1933 when she was still a young woman. There were not many options for treatment and Anna eventually succumbed to the disease, leaving a husband and young son.

"Although she passed away too young, her love of flowers is always felt in our family. That's why I want to offer this special donation from the world's most popular rose…Peace," says Lorraine Aho. "I hope that constant research for breast cancer treatment will give more families the extra years with their mothers and grandmothers that my family missed."

The "Peace" Rose is an archival matted print of an original Katherine Greene watercolor. It comes framed in gold and is signed by the artist. It retails for $75 and there is no deadline for purchase.
